Missed call notification bade not working

I've had two phone calls missed while I had Do Not Disturb on where the badge on the phone icon on the home screen was not present. Going into calls, "Recent" showed the missed calls with a badge but it was not present on the homescreen. Anyone else have this issue? I'm on a new iPhone 8.
