Is there an app or someway I can setup missed calls to trigger an email notification- an email is sent saying that I missed a phone call including the number that called?
I tried a few from ifttt and they do not work. I am unable to have my phone through out the day and this would be handy.

You'd need to make use of something like Google Voice or YouMail for your voicemail needs--this way when a call goes to voicemail and the caller decides to not leave a voicemail those services can be set up to email you about the missed call.

You can set up Google Voice (GV) as your voicemail service on your current cell number but it won't notify you of missed calls unless the caller waits for the voicemail message to start.

If you can set up call forwarding on your iPhone service to the GV number it might work for hangups. I don't know as my StraightTalk service doesn't support call forwarding.

Not sure if it helps you at all, but Verizon has voicemail to text message forwarding now. It works great. My voicemails get transcribed into a text that shows up in that particular contacts text thread.
