Walked down there, UPS man stopped and gave me the package. I don't know how universal this approach is.
Just got home to find a note saying ups will try back again tomorrow. Anyway i can still get it today?
I mean, he obviosuly asked for my ID to compare to name and address on package...That is probably the worst business practice UPS could possibly due. Such a liability issue.
Not for the iphone, but I once tracked down a UPS truck I saw on a street. He called his buddy that does my route, asked where he was and told me I could meet him on the corner of X & Y in 10 minutes. Walked down there, UPS man stopped and gave me the package. I don't know how universal this approach is.
I think you can also pick it up at the UPS center that night - just call and they will hold. Problem for me in the above scenario was that the UPS center in Chicago is a haul into the south side, and I wasn't doing that.

I think many of us who get regular deliveries from UPS are in that situation. I know my regular UPS driver quite well--and he would not hesitate to give me my package if I saw him anywhere along his route.
Yes, this happened to me last year. I called the 800 number and got no results. All they would do is have my local hub call me and set up a time to pick it up after they close. When the local hub called me, I asked about a second attempt. She called the driver and they came back a couple hours after I called. The lady on the phone was very accommodating even though she was sick as a dog that day.Just got home to find a note saying ups will try back again tomorrow. Anyway i can still get it today?
