An app has suddenly disappeared from my home screen. I don't know which one (and I definitely did not delete or move any app by mistake).

Yesterday morning I still had 3 apps in the lowest row on my home screen, in the afternoon there were suddenly only two. I know that because the last app in the last row is an app that I use several times every day. I used this app in the morning, and the icon was in its "usual" spot as third (and last) app in the last row. When I wanted to use the app again in the afternoon the icon was suddenly the second (and last) app in the last row.

I do have "Offload Unused Apps" active on my phone. However, the icons of such offloaded apps are still in their respective places.

Unfortunately I do not know which app is gone. Is there way to find this out? Is it at all possible or imaginable that Apple deletes apps from my phone without my consent or without at least letting me know?

I haven’t seen this before. But I’m fairly certain apple does not have the ability to remove apps off of your device. Have you checked the App Library? Perhaps it was just removed from the Home Screen but not the phone.

If you don’t even know what the app was, maybe you don’t even use it? 😂

Check the App Library. Also, sometimes it’s easy to accidentally remove or move the apps.

It's very easy to accidentally delete apps when the phone is in your pocket and it didn't lock before you stuck it in there. It has happened to me before with the Numbers app. Holy crap.
I now set up restrictions that prevent deleting apps so it can't happen again.
