Missing apps on the ipad?

Does anyone know why there are no weather or stocks or messaging apps on the ipad, as there are on the iphone? These seem to be curious omissions.

Thanks very much. Unfortunately Weatherbug Elite the best-rated weather app isn't available in the US store—odd! So I'll have to shop around. I'll download the stock-trading app.
