Hi, I'm a little worried right now.

A while back, I created a disk image so I could password protect some important files. I tucked that password-protected folder away in some other folders to make it harder to find. Today, I went to edit some of the things in that folder and it wouldn't prompt me for the password (normally happens just when I highlight it). I double-clicked it and it said it is an Alias and the original can't be found. I clicked more info and it said the original is in /Volumes.

What happened here? I don't remember it being an Alias before, but if it was, why did it suddenly stop working? It's been a while since I last backed up that folder, is everything new gone?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Sorry to bump, but I would hope someone can help me out here.

If it helps, I do Time Machine backups of pretty much everything but the folder in which that Disk Image was. If the original was in the /Volumes folder, would it be possible for me to reach into my Time Machine backup and pull it out?

Any help is very, very much appreciated. Thanks!
