Not sure if this is the right place for this. I am having a problem with files on an external HDD. I am moving files over from my windows pc to my Mac and they are not showing up as being on the drive in OS X. Now when I connect the Ex HDD on my Windows PC they are there, but when connected to my Mac they are not there. The Ex HDD is a seagate backup Plus drive and I have reformatted the drive to fat on my Mac and it still is not working. I have also tried and put the file in a spot that it is in the open, but still does not show up. Most files are fine but certain ones just don't work. Any ideas? Thanks.

They might be invisible, if so you should make files visible and see if they show up.

In terminal type:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles True
Hit Enter key
killall Finder
Hit Enter key

To reverse:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles False
Hit Enter key
killall Finder
Hit Enter key

Thanks I will try that. I did notice that one of the folders starts with a . (Period), will that be why it does not show up on Mac but will with windows?
