There's this strange thing happening where the Finder gives a weird error like "This operation cannot be completed (error code 22)" near the very end of a file transfer. This happens mainly with large file transfers for example manually dragging things off an external hard drive and copying them over to Macintosh HD. The files itself aren't large, but it's just when I select multiple files or have nested files like an iPhoto library.
In Console, it says 11-08-22 5:54:05.000 PM kernel: vnode_validate_compressed_file_Type4 error: 22
When I check the contents of what I just transferred, I notice that some files are missing and many times entire contents within folders are missing. The result is empty folders that are named correctly that are copied over. This makes file transfer very unreliable and I end up having to go into each folder and check what's been copied and what hasn't.
My external hard disk is a new Seagate Goflex 2TB which some people say goes to sleep and is dodgy with Macs, but I haven't had any problems and I downloaded the latest driver/software package for it.
Even if a hard drive goes to sleep, I don't see why it doesn't just disconnect instead of taking the same amount of time to transfer empty files as if it were actually copying something over.
