Hi! I'm on 16.0.2 on my iPhone 12 and when I edit my LS the focus mode button doesn't appear. On my wife's iPhone 11 everything is working fine.. what am I missing?

Have you actually set up various Focus modes though from within Settings ?

If you haven't, then perhaps this is why they are missing from your LS?

'Normal' and DND are not Focus modes.

Sleep is a Focus mode and so is Fitness. As you can now see, when you set up various Focus modes, you will then get the option to link these to various LS.

Then, when you select a LS which is linked to a Focus, it automatically turns on that Focus mode; similarly, when you select a Focus mode, it automatically swishes to that LS.

So for me, I have a default LS not linked to anything but I then have a Focus and LS linked to Work, Working From Home, Driving and one or two others as well.
