OK so I have a 100gb HD, which I know doesn't mean all 100 are there, more like 90 something. I'm trying to free up space so I went into the HD, and added up all the components and got these numbers:
Library - 12.37
App - 2.43
System - 3.97
User - 37.24

Now that makes 56.01 if my spotlight calculator is working correctly. It says I have used 61.72. Are those 5.71 that I'm missing due to the OS? I thought that's what the system files etc. were, but I don't know much so I could very well be mistaken.

Btw, if anyone has some common ways to free up a gb or two, let me know. I've already moved all of my game files to my iPod so they aren't permanently on my computer. I haven't started playing any games yet though, so I'm not sure if this will slow down game play since they have to be transferred at USB 2.0 speed. If anyone has thoughts on this, let me know as well.

This is just a best guess but the system files are there too but not all of the OS's items are in that folder.
