Hi,

Tried doing a search and didn't find anything, so if this question has been posted previously, I apologize in advance.

I use the NCsettings widget to turn off and on location services. Yesterday I noticed that when I toggle location services on, the status bar icon wouldn't show up until I actually started using an app that requested location data. Maybe my memory is wrong, but I swore that toggling location services on would automatically turn the status bar icon on as well, regardless of whether or not an app was actually calling that info. Am I mistaken or is my location services icon not functioning correctly. The reason I posted it here in the hacks section is because I noticed this immediately after updating/uninstalling some jailbreak tweaks. Maybe this is just the new way it works in 5.1.1. or maybe I've just been less observant than I usually am when it comes to these kinds of things.

Thanks

It does not show up in the status bar until an app uses the location services. For further information of recent activity, you can go into settings, then location services, and you'll see various colored icons showing which apps are using or recently used the location services. Don't worry, your location services is behaving normally.

If you restored as a new iPhone the icon may be turned off. Go into Settings>Location Services>System Services and scroll to the bottom to activate the status bar icon. I think it's off by default.

It will only show up in the status bar when Location Services is being used by an application.
