Missing my 13" MBA...

I upgraded from a 13" MBA (July 2012), to the rMBP 13" in November 2012.

The 13" rMBP is the machine I was holding out for (as I require portability), and why I did not go for the 15" rMBP. Since my purchase, I have really begun to miss the weight and portability of the MBA.

I have heard rumours of a 13" rMBA coming this year, which would be much more preferable for me (as my mobile computing needs are not cpu intensive).

Is anyone else in the same situation, torn between wanting a retina display (yes, I'm a display junkie) and the light weight/portability of the air?

2.38lb for the air vs 3.57lb for a 13" rMBP. I don't really see where you are suffering the loss of portability. I will move from a 2012 13" air to a rMBP this summer with the new refresh. I don't think portability is compromised.

I know it doesn't seem like a lot on paper, but for me the MBA seemed a lot more portable. It may be due to the fact that I have bulked the rMBP with a speck case, whereas my Air was naked.

Actually it is 2.96 lbs vs 3.57 lbs. The 2.38 lbs is for the 11" model.

Also, the Retina is actually more portable because the footprint is actually smaller. Take a look at the measurements of the Retina and the Air. The 13" Retina is actually right in between the footprint of the 11" Air and the 13" Air. It is almost like a 12" Air. The reason being that the bezel on the Retina is smaller.

I think the 0.5 lb tradeoff is well worth it.

Yeah, I agree. The footprint is definitely smaller and I definitely don't miss the huge bezel on the Air. It would be great if the 13" MBP had the wedge shape.
