I have a Brother MFC-8220 connected to my Airport Extreme via USB from my AT&T U-verse modem. I keep getting a message during startup saying "The printer 'Brother MFC-8220' could not be found in your list of printers". I checked my printer list and it's there. The only change I've made recently is switching from Comcast to AT&T U-verse, and from the Comcast modem to the AT&T modem. My wife has a MacBook that connects wirelessly, and she does not get this message. I'm just stumped as to what is triggering this message.

To get my wireless printer to work with my MBP, I had to connect it via USB to get the proper drivers (using the printer software). Do you have the manual? That's what mine had me do.
