Missing remote receiver on mbp

I noticed the missing remote receiver on the retinas.
if i want to remotely control a presentation how do i go about?
can i somehow use an ipad or iphone?
please only bluetooth solutions!
there is no wifi available.

(my workplace uses winxp and 3.5 floppy discs. they think wifi is the devils work. no joke!!)

If you could use an ad-hoc network, this would work well. (Create your own local wifi network from your MBP)
