Earlier this year I started noticing that I was not getting notifications for a lot of my iMessage messages (probably about 1/3 are missed). I am pretty sure I am getting all the notifications for SMS messages. Specifically, the message are on the lock screen of my phone the next time I tap it, but they do not make any sound or vibration or light up the screen when they arrive. I finally realized that this issue is only occurring when I am on my work MacBook Pro, logged into iCloud, where I have not enabled Messages. I.e. I want to be logged in to easily use my AirPods, share a copy/paste buffer, and share notes with my personal Apple products, but I definitely do not want my personal messages on that machine – and I especially don't want message notifications coming in on my screen.
When I log out of iCloud completely on that machine the problem goes away, and all messages arrive on my iPhone normally. As mentioned, this started earlier this year – I am not sure when, but it must have been after an iOS or MacOS update.
Has anybody seen this? And is there a fix, other than being completely logged out? I am assuming I could also fix it by turning on Messages on that machine, but as mentioned, I really prefer to avoid that.
