My car is equipped with wireless CarPlay (car is a BMW, in case this is relevant to the problem described below). While trying to figure out why I could not get shortcuts to run in CarPlay, I discovered that I am missing the toggle for “allow CarPlay while locked” (under settings - general - CarPlay - *name of car*. Instead it shows a toggle for CarPlay on/off. I have two other cars (different makes) set up for CarPlay on the same iPhone (both are wired, not wireless), and the toggle for “allow CarPlay while locked” shows for both of them as expected. iPhone fully updated to iOS 15.6.

I have tried (several times) to “forget“ the car and delete the iPhone from the car's system, reboot the iPhone and restart the car, and then reconnect. Same problem persists. Interestingly, on one such attempt, I happened to go into the CarPlay setting screen for the car on the iPhone during the few moments while the car was setting up the connection, and I did see the toggle for “allow CarPlay while locked” briefly, and then literally in front of my eyes, it changed to “CarPlay” (ie an on/off toggle).

Are others seeing the same behaviour for wireless CarPlay? Any way to solve this?

I saw it. You have to have the phone plugged into the infotainment and CarPlay active to be able to see the setting. Took me a minute to figure it out.
