Today I connected a Denon S970H AV receiver to my Apple TV. It's routed through my LG G3 via eARC. Audio via the Denon is working fine but we don't want to use the full 5.1 system at all times. Late night, for example, we want audio only via the TV Speakers. Problem is, since connecting eARC I no longer see an option on the Apple TV for TV Speakers. The only audio output device is the Denon AVR now. Is there no way to have both options? Thank you.

You should see switch on your TV to select TV speakers or Audio System.
On a Sony Bravia it looks like this:

From what I can tell on my LG C2 OLED is that the internal speakers are disabled if HDMI eARC is enabled in the TV settings.

Don’t know about the LG, but on my Sony the speaker setting overrides HDMI CEC.
TV is the master device in CEC system.
I was assuming LG has similar control for speaker selection.

Thanks for the help. I did find the switch output option on the TV itself. It seems to reset on power off though and is buried within several sub-menus. I was hoping for something accessible within Control Center on the ATV. It’s like once you enable ARC, the Apple TV forgets the TV speakers exist

The aTV sends audio over the HDMI cable to the TV.
The TV then routes the audio to the speakers you want.

The aTV doesn't really care what speakers the TV is sending audio to. The TV will tell the aTV what the speakers are capable of (stereo, surround, atmos, etc...) but that's about it.

it probably resets on when you turn the TV back on because it does hardware handshakes when it turns, everyone says hello to each other, and the TV sees the soundbar and assumes you want to use the extra gear you have.

I have an LG CX, not sure what the current model's menus look like, but I press the menu button on the LG remote, I get a quick menu down the left side with a few items, you can customize the items in the quick menu, one is audio output, you can select and it will let you scroll through the options.

If you're decently technical, you can use homebridge, and the webos plugin to change which speakers you're outputting to. (If you need more info than that, then this probably isn't a good solution for you)

Great info. Thank you. Will look into that quick menu.
