Hi.
Macbook Pro OS X 10.9.1.
Until recently I had the option in network choices of connecting via USB to my iPhone 5S (Verizon) personal hotspot. Now the USB choice is gone and I can't figure a way to add it. I hit the + at the bottom and the choice is now gone. Suggestions appreciated.

Is your phone plugged in to the computer and hotspot turned on when you're trying to add it? It looked like on my AT&T iPhone 5, it would only appear once I connected my phone and turned on Personal Hotspot.

well, EC, that worked just now when I plugged it in again...I swear, I wasn't trying to create a USB connection without the USB cable plugged in! It has the options of creating a Thunderbolt bridge without a Thunderbolt connection...a FireWire connection without a FireWire cable...Yesterday WITH the cable plugged in and with the personal hotspot on, it wasn't an option. Weird. Thanks. ---David

click the little "+" in the lower left corner of networks tab in System preferences, even more small network interfaces will be hiding there.

it's determined on your location, so if you have more than one (on top of the tab) then try swathing between the ones you have to see the various network layouts.

Right, that's where I did NOT see USB despite being plugged in with personal hotspot on! Though it's there now...
