Sorry, I tried googling for this one but not even sure what to call it.

So here is my problem. When I click on an open application in the dock it takes me to the "space" with the application, but does not bring that application to the top. For example, I have safari and 1password on Desktop 2 and Mail/Things on Desktop 3. If I am in safari and want to send an email, I click mail. I am taken to Desktop 3, but Things is still on top.

This is very annoying. The only option I see in the Mission Control Preferences is "When switching to an application, switch to a space with open windows for an application". When this is checked, I get the above behavior. When unchecked, The application becomes active, but the Desktop/Space is not switched.

Any ideas on how to fix this. When I click on Mail I expect to be taken to Mail.
