Mission Control

I'm not too clear on his Mission Control works. Can I create a second desktop and put all of the files that are on my main desktop on them so I do not need to see them and only have them accessible when viewing the second desktop? I tried dragging files to a second desktop, though it did not seem to remove them from my main desktop.

Mission Control is for separating different applications into different desktop workspaces. All files will be accessible regardless of which desktop you are currently in.
