Hello,

I am finishing up my media studio (I edit film, videos, photos, and record music... an all around media guy), and I just ordered a pair of Yamaha HS-80m's, but now I am wondering if that was the best choice. I have heard them and love them- but I also was thinking... "Should I have planned for mixing surround sound?"
If I wanted to do that- what would be the best way? I currently have a 2010 Mac Pro- so my thought was to maybe get a nice Surround Sound receiver connected via an optical cable- and toss my nice Klipsch bookshelf speakers on there instead of the Yamaha's- that way I could eventually put the center and rears along with them. If I went that route- do you think that would be suffice for monitoring music? If not- then what route would I take to connect five monitor speakers to have and mix surround sound?

This is probably an easy answer- but I cannot find any information online- maybe I am just over thinking it.

Anyway- thanks for any responses!
