I've got a 2016 non-tb MBP. I bought the MJ1M2AM USB-C > USB-A adapter, and it works fine with flash drives / iPhone etcs, but it doesn't work with either of the external HDDs I have (they're USB3).
I've tried both ports, and orienting the cable both ways. The drives spin up, but don't appear in finder or Disk Utility.
Not sure if the issue is Sierra, the Macbook, or the adapter. I can't seem to find any other reports of this issue, but it's not like I'm not trying to do anything non-standard here. Just regular old external HDDs.
I only have a few days left to return my MBP and I'm considering doing it, else I'll have to deal with genius bar / potentially sending the device away if that's where the fault lies.
Anyone else experiencing this issue?
