I've been searching for an app that can burn .mkv files onto a DVD, but so far I've had no luck. I've tried a couple of apps (toast & dvd creator), but they didn't work. I've also tried converting the file to one that would work under such apps, but the estimated conversion time was about 7 hours; I made it so the converter would let the file retain its original attributes (resolution, video quality) and it's very vital that it does. So, is there an app out there that will burn .mkv files onto a DVD without the need to convert?

Short answer: no

Long answer: the DVD spec is mpeg-2, so if you want it to be playable in a DVD player, it'll have to be transcoded to mpeg-2.
