Just attemting to play MKV with my MBP - 16 gig / SSD HD.
Works fine when playing ~local~ to the laptop.

With tunderbolt-hdmi adapter - going into my AVR to play onto my 65" screen......using VLC I get audio/video dropouts. Using Blu-Ray Player - I get audio out of sync.

I don't intend to use my MBP as a HTPC but for the occasional times I want to just feed it through my HT gear, I'd like it to work.

could it be the mkv ...even thought it plays fine locally ...
I have play 2 other mkv just fine in the same setup feeding the avr

Just for schitz and giggles, tried the same setup.

No dropouts on audio/video but center audio was playing out of my Left Front.
Tweaked with the audio settings under VLC, stereo, left, right, dolby , etc - no dice.
