I recently acquired some hd mkv movie files. I then installed Mplayer, the video plays flawlessly, however, the audio comes through as an indecypherable, irritating buzz. I noticed that all the mkv files that did this have a DTS sound output. Files with AC3/DD play beautifully with sound and video. I noticed by trial and error that this format would not play on my mac. I have a power mac 2.5 g5 quad. I would like to know if anyone here could tell me if this is a hardware problem or a software problem, basically what is the problem... Thanks alot.

What kind of MKVs?

I have HD MKV files 1080p x264 with dts sound.

If you are using a receiver via optical out, go to preferences > miscellaneous and add the following line> -afm hwac3 (like in the attached image)
