Maybe someone can help me understand this. But why is my 2012 MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion faster than my friend's 2013 rMBP? I have done a clean install of ML and his retina MBP came with Mavericks pre-installed.

My 2012 MBP:
2.6 Core i7 Ivy Bridge
16GB Ram
240 OWC Extreme SSD
Nvidia 650m 1GB

His rMBP:
2.6 Core Core i7 Haswell
16GB Ram
512 GB SSD Pci
Nvidia 750m 2GB

He's kinda pissed lol because mine "seems more responsive" and snappier. Mine also resumes from sleep faster. I never upgraded to Mavericks because I read it was slower. Guess I was right? But all aside, how can he improve his rMBP, considering he paid nearly 3K for it?

Is the OWC SSD I have better than Apple's?
