HI All,

I've used MLB.tv for years on iOS and apple TV devices with no problem. But for the last couple weeks on my main apple TV the app keeps forgetting my credentials. I can reenter them no problem but when I quit the app or restart/turn on the apple TV it again gives me the start screen. I've deleted the app more times than I can remember, checked and updated the OS and App.

To be clear I deleted and not offloaded the app. What am I missing? My other apple TV and iOS devices are fine. The only thing left that I can think of is to factory reset the device. Any thoughts before I do that? What I find confusing, is if I delete the app shouldn't I be able to just reinstall and it fixes the problem? Does the Apple TV somehow not delete everything and keeps a preference file (that we can't access or see)?

I just wanted to doublecheck that I wasn't missing something obvious if there was a workaround someone had found.

Thanks Philly

Thank you for the suggestion. I'm not on twitter but do have a ticket in with mlb phone support. The "tech" told me point blank that I had to have an apple HD4 and a 4k variant wasn't supported. Sooo, I just waited until I was given a ticket number and I'll call back.

it has been a couple of weeks. MLB support was zero help. I went with the nuclear option. I reset the Apple TV to factory and logged in again as me. SAME ISSUE! I was/am stunned. Is there any data retained in icloud? I assumed the only data was that I had certain apps installed and where they were on the Home Screen. Is there any other way to flush the cache or delete any residual data? I was convinced a factory reset would do it. Hey, I even had to change the button on the remote back to Home Screen from Apple TV app so i thought I had fixed the problem.

Now truly at a loss. I’m at a point where I would hope Apple would exchange it. Not sure how I’d argue it but .Something is corrupted and I can‘t find a fix.

any new ideas?

That is very strange. I haven't had to login to the app again since the season started. Only the MLB would know what cases they log you out. It could be something as simple as detecting different ip addresses. But, there's no way for us to know that information.

Yes it is bizarre. It doesn’t happen to my other Apple TV nor any of the iPads. First time I’ve had to relogin for probably years?

It’s not an Apple TV issue, it’s a MLB.tv issue. About once a week I have to login to the same TV I used yesterday. I don’t share my password with anyone, but I still have to login. I always turn off the tv and/or switch to another streaming program then go back to MLB…. sometimes it “remembers” me and I don’t need to login. But like today: TV OFF/on, switched programs, then go back to MLB, did the login and was welcomed like I’d never been there before, ignoring that I watch 5-6 times a week.
