MMS Messages Disappeared

I was looking for a picture in my texts and realized that any MMS over a month old is gone. I never save the pictures, because I have never had this problem. Is there a setting that I am missing? Is this an Apple or ATT issue? Is there a way to recover them?

Please help. I have searched and found a few others with this problem, but there was no solution.
