mms on tmobile with no data plan

I have a 3gs running 4.0 on t-mobile and have tried everything under the sun to get mms to work.

I've installed the leimobile and sinfuliphone patches both with no avail.

So basiclly the only thing I can think of is that mms simply won't work unless I get a data plan. Can anyone confirm this?

I believe thats right.
At least that how it works on AT&T. No data, no mms since it uses carrier data to send and receive.

I know for a fact T-Mobile will allow MMS on phones that don't have data plans. I've gotten it to work fine with a G1 and random dumb phone. The thing is, the iPhone seems to be pretty sketchy. Not sure why, but it looks like you might in fact need a data plan for only the iPhone if you want MMS to work. No clue why though.

This is kinda what I'm thinking too. Before the iphone I had a BB without data that would send and recieve mms just fine but no matter what I try I can't seem to get mms to work the 3gs. Anyone here even have an iphone on tmobile without data?
