Hi,

Just curious....

Is there a site with a list of every single application that is available for OS X?

Developers would have to register their apps somewhere right? So, it would seem that maybe there would be a collective list of all the apps that are made for Mac..

Or is that too lofty of a concept?

Thanks :)

too lofty,

though macupdate and versiontracker, along with Apple's OS X download page should give you the big picture.

Apple has a list of everything supposedly. They publish a softcover directory that you can find at some magazine stands.

Ya that's what I'm saying...I thought that all software has to be approved by Apple, and conform to their standards, and that's one of the things that makes Apple so great..

So, ya that's the list I want..lol..

Somehow I doubt I'll find it....:(

Where did you ever get that idea? There is no Apple Approved Software Committee. Neither is there a Microsoft Approved Software Committee. Have you a clue how expensive such a committee would be?

However Apple does have their Developer GUIDELINES and a Human Interface Guideline that all developers are supposed to adhere to before Apple will list an app of their's on the site.

That's not true. Lots of developers like Delicious Monster purposely break some guidelines for the better and they still are listed and win apple design awards. Sometimes I think apple breaks their own HI guidelines.
