Hey all --

I'm pretty interested in Jailbreak/the third party community, as it's making the iPod touch into a highly desired purchase for me. But I wanted to get some opinions on how mobile chat (I think there's actually a program called MobileChat, too) works via Jailbreaking. What's the quality like? Are you connected "forever", or, as I hear about the iPhone, once another application is opened the other one is closed?

I haven't seen any of the messaging applications supporting Yahoo! Messaging, but the other ones such as ApolloIM and others are pretty much the same. They're a bit slow and buggy but that's expected. We won't have an official messaging application until the App Store is released in June. I think I remember a representative from AIM during that conference when the App Store was announced that showed off a version of AIM that seemed pretty decent.

I have NEVER gotten appolo to work (prob. just me though) OP: if you can make a good App, the more power to ya!
