Is it my imagination that Bluetooth is A LOT faster than Wi-Fi? I am on AT&T.

Not likely.

Bluetooth 2.0 max speed would be somewhere around 1.45 mbps one way in an absolutely PERFECT scenario. This is due to the nature of the protocol. Obviously, WiFi has no such bottleneck.

Just your imagination.

I had my friends iphone 4 tethered to mine via wifi, on a speed test he got 5.5mbps down and 4mbps up. I am with Telus in Canada. His phone is faster tethered to mine then when he uses his own provider.

Tethering via bluetooth generally yields about 1mbps.
