Mobile Me badges in iPhone

I was wondering if when you delete mail using Mobile Me if your iPhone number of mail badge on the mail icon should be in accordance with the number of mails you have left, for example if I delete everything in my mail box should my badge disappear but without having to open my iPhone app ?
