MobileMe and Exchange - simultaneous?

I have my MobileMe account set up in Mail, and Gmail set up as an IMAP account. However, I'd like to set up Google Sync on both my Mac and iPod touch, yet I've heard this is impossible. Is this true? And if so, is there some workaround? Ideally, I'd like my MobileMe contacts and Google Contacts to be synced...
