MobileMe email not marking as read on iPhone 3G

I have my MobileMe email set up on my mac and my iPhone, when I am at my desk I read my email on my mac rather than my iPhone. The problem I am having is that when I read an email on my mac the email does not mark as read on my iPhone until I open up mail. I have push enabled so why does it not mark as read automatically? It works the other way (ie. when I read the email on my iPhone my mac updates almost instantly)

Any ideas?

it always been like that i've been using mobile me since day one and it always worked like that... im using gmail via microsoft exchange and it's instant! if i delete a email on the google web page it instantly delete the email in my phone... i don't know why mobile me can't do the same thing... it has to refreshed first
