Hey everyone!
Today, I bought an iTouch 4G (iPod touch fourth-generation, typing iPod touch gets obnoxious) and since my last one was stolen, I am trying to milk this 'Find My iPod' function that comes free with it!
Also, sometime between when I bought my 2nd gen that was stolen (late August) and when I bought my 4th gen (today, Dec 28), Apple made it a requirement to associate either a PayPal or a credit card in order to register an iTunes account. Fortunately, I set up an account with my 2nd gen back in August, when credit card or PayPal wasn't required. Unfortunately, I already started registering an account with an e-mail address dedicated to Apple devices, so I could not change the e-mail address on the old account to the one dedicated for Apple devices (set the e-mail of the old account to that of the dedicated Apple e-mail). So, I created a 'dummy' e-mail, to change the partially-registered one (the one that needed a credit card or PayPal), and changed the old account to the e-mail that is dedicated to the Apple devices.
(old account e-mail -> dedicated Apple e-mail doesn't work, I already started registering with the dedicated e-mail;
partially-registered account e-mail -> 'dummy' e-mail, frees up the dedicated Apple-email;
old account e-mail -> dedicated Apple e-mail)
Why did I say that? Well, before, I signed in as 'X' on my iPod, and the Find My iPod was working fine (but App Store wasn't, I needed a credit card or PayPal). But, when I switched 'X' account to use the 'dummy e-mail' and changed the e-mail of the account from my second gen (refer to parenthesis above this paragraph) to use the dedicated Apple e-mail, things started acting funky.
ACTUAL PROBLEM: So now, half the time, it would say that there are no devices registered on the website (me.com, sign in, load, "no devices registered"), and the other half it'd be just fine. Also, when I go to Mail, Contacts, etc on my iPod, and click on the MobileMe account, the info for that account looks odd. The amount of circles (blocked out password letters) is not the same as the amount of letters in my password, so like my password is (let's say) six letters, but there are only 4 circles (representing letters within the password). Also, if I press on 'Fetch New Data' (in the same section) and go to 'Advanced,' under 'MobileMe' it shows 'Inactive' in small gray letters, even though the feature is definetly on!
Would there be like any way to start fresh with all these damn accounts, because like if I delete MobileMe account on iPod and try to create it again, it 'remembers me' (don't have to go through Terms & Conditions), without deleting all your stuff (syncing 500 songs takes like 2 hours)?
So could this weird behavior be as a result of me switching e-mails for my accounts, or did I just do something wrong (I did delete and recreate the MobileMe account on the iPod quite a few times)?
If something is unclear, which I'm sure it will be, please ask me to clarify!
Thanks a lot to everyone that contributes!
