So I have a xxx@me.com address that I use with iChat. When in iChat it tells me its an AIM account. Now when i download the AIM app for iPad it tells me its the wrong password.....I for a FACT that its the right one i've tested it. So it doesn't let me log in. It pulls my Thumbnail AIM Profile pic but thats it. Please help!!! Thank you soooo much!!

Your iCloud (MobileMe) account is separate from your aim account, which appears to use your iCloud email address. Being different accounts, they can (and should) have different passwords. It sounds like you're entering your iCloud password, when you should be using your aim password instead.

But my iCloud address works as an AIM on iChat.....I've try all other passwords too...

When signing up for AIM, you can use any email address. It sounds like you used your iCloud address for AIM, which is fine. However, you need to remember the password that you used when you signed up for AIM. I'm guessing that iChat remembers it, even if you don't. :(

Try going to www.aim.com, and going to the login page. There should be a "forgot password" link, there. (However, if you reset your password, iChat will stop working until you re-enter the new one.)

I NEVER signed up for an AIM one.....

This is what happens when I click on Forget my password:

Hmm, OK, just checked -- I didn't know that you could use AIM with an iCloud account. I just downloaded AIM for iPad, and my iCloud account/password worked with it. However, I've done the MobileMe-to-iClould transition (you're still talking about MobileMe, even though it's dead, and so I'm wondering if you've done the transition). I don't know if the transition actually affects this, though.

When i created this iCloud account it asked me to use a email address or create and @me address and I did that one. Is that why maybe?

Just saw this that was posted in February 2012 in an another Forum saying:

Unfortunately Apple haven't provided an API for Instant Messaging for accounts that have been migrated to iCloud. The new iCloud accounts only work with iChat on Lion, doesn't even work with iChat on SnowLeopard.

Is this why its not working??

Umm, probably not. If you created a *@me.com address, that is what you have. It's starting to sound like you really do have an iCloud account and not a MobileMe account, even though you're asking about MobileMe.

However, just in case you really do have a MobileMe account:

  1. iCloud and MobileMe are different services.
  2. iCloud uses *@me.com addresses, just like MobileMe, which can be confusing.
  3. If you originally signed up for iCloud, you signed up for iCloud and not MobileMe.
  4. If you originally signed up for MobileMe, you signed up for MobileMe, and not iCloud.
  5. iCloud is the successor to MobileMe.
  6. MobileMe is shutting down around the end of June 2012.
  7. If you originally signed up for MobileMe (and it's starting to sound like you did NOT, even though you're asking about MobileMe), you should transition to iCloud before MobileMe shuts down.
  8. iCloud is missing some MobileMe services. In particular, iCloud does not have iWeb, Gallery, or iDisk. If you convert from MobileMe to iCloud, you need to save/backup your data (iWeb, Gallery, iDisk, etc., etc.) before the conversion.
  9. For more transition questions, see Apple's FAQ: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4597
However, if you already have an iCloud account, I don't know what's causing your problem. Logging into aim using the iCloud account works for me and others, and so I'm at a loss.

My iCloud account was migrated from MobileMe, and my iCloud account works in AIM for iPad (I don't have any AIM friends attached to that iCloud account, and so I can't actually send any messages, but I can login :D ).

Whats weird is that it seems to recognize my account as it pulls my Profile picture......What should I do....TY
