Will MobileMe be for me.com accounts only or will it also work with other e-mail accounts?

In other words, could I use the service to sync my "johndoe@johndoe.com" account between my PC, iPhone, and webmail?

What you could probably do is set up your other account to forward everything to your new @me.com address.

Exactly. The only problem with this though... would be that when you respond to that email, it will come from your "@me.com" address.

The new .Me gallery feature looks virtually idential to the old .Mac one. So, yes, I would say it works.
