Hey everyone. so im about 2 months into the Mac experience and still transfering stuff from the Winblows machine. One thing im noticing is from my JVC everio digital Camera (hard drive cam) that the files are AVI on MS but when I transfer them to the Mac they convert to .MOD yet none of my 300 gigs worth of DVD rips that are in AVI are converting. Only the ones from the digital camera.
I did some searching and some people say you should just be able to rename the file on the Mac to .avi and it will work. I tried it and it changed the Icon to a Quicktime Icon but still dosnt play.
Tried downloading Divx and the K lite codex, Still wont play.
Then I read that The .MOD file is just an MPEG-2 file so I downloaded 2 of the suggested Mac MPEG-2 players (the non quicktime ones) and still nothing.
When I google searched the topic of converting .MOD all the threads i could find were from like 2007 and earlier and i tried a lot of the programs they mentioned but none of them worked.
So does anyone know of any good Conversion software that will do the trick?
