Modded DS

I have decided to buy a ds and I've seen people talk about using flash cards? What exactly do they do/are they expensive and are they worth it?

Back when I did lots of moving around I used to use an M3 on my modded DS fat. Would have all my store bought games dumped on it. But now I don't travel so much so I'm not fighting for space - back to full carts.
Last time I looked though they were very cheap. An M3 cart and memory card would be the same price as a DS game.

Truth be told though there is some killer homebrew, infact Lemmings best appearence can be found on DS homebrew.
