Can someone tell me the model number of the superdrive in the first unibody 17" MacBook Pro? Can't seem to find it anywhere else and I need to find a replacement Superdrive for a 2.66Ghz 17"

Don't know the model number but its going to be a standard 9.7mm SATA Superdrive. (The other option is 12mm but it won't fit).

Well it's more a matter of where the screws fit. I was going to swap the SD that came with my new i7 15" MBP, but the screw holes don't align

Ummm...

The System Profiler should tell you the make/model of the optical drive. I have an older (Early 2008) MBP, but mine is a Matshita UJ-867 and it's readily available as a replacement OEM part. I don't see much of a reason why your drive shouldn't be hard to source.

I don't have the optical drive anymore. I put it in a previous Unibody MBP that I sold when I swapped the optical drive for a 2nd hard drive. Now I'm selling the 17" unibody to a friend and want to put in an appropriate optical drive in that fits.
