Model numbers not found on Apple.com?

Every other reseller site I go to, lists a model number, such as "MGX82LL/A" but there is no model number on Apple.com.

Given this model number, MGX82LL/A, how do I determine if this is latest or year old or two year old? any clues?

Also I see two different model numbers on same macbook pro - MGX82LL/A vs A1502. What are these and how are they different?

Your specific number (MGX yadayada) is a mid-2014 core i5 2.6GHz 13" MBP.

Google would've told you as much.

Sure it will. But I was only wondering if there is an easy way to read the model number and figure out the year when this is made. Like reading Intel processor and figuring out if it is first gen or second gen or so on.

Not really no. I've never noticed any sort of "logic" in those numbers.

If you go to the store at apple.com and add a machine to your cart you can go to edit the cart and see that model number you are after. I always found it odd also they don't make the model number more prominent.
