I read an article in macaddict or macworld along time before i recieved my fist mac. i just got it and started to wonder if i could use any of the tips for modifying and hacking the interface. the article covered changing the logo in the corner of the menubar from rainbow to anything i wanted it to. it said something about using appleworks paint to modify some file. i forgot completely what the instructions said and would like anyones help on this subject. i'm also tired of the same old rainbow scheme.

What Mac did you receive? Using OS 9 and customizing it is a bit of a pain compared to OS X. But I would just recommend finding Kaleidoscope and using that to implement new themes.

Otherwise you'll need to use ResEdit to change some icon files in the system folder, and if you asked me the same question in 2001 I might be able to be more specific, but OS 9 is long gone for me, and a lot of people here. Google it!
