Modifying dock in Leopard woes

Hey guys, I just installed leopard, a little buggy but cool all around. One thing that is bothering me is that I cannot take icons off of the dock, or add them. I even checked to make sure parental controls allowed it. It is really baffling me, any suggestions?

Imac 17 inch core duo 1.25 gigs of ram.

Do you have administrator rights? if you do what happens then..

wow, no I don't it is standard, I feel like an idiot. I will try that soon I have to finish a few updates. Thanks!
