Its getting out of hand. They need to start to organize the stickys. They need to close useless threads (like this one im starting but maybe it will get their attention).

Clean up the boards and do your job :)

They do not get paid for moderating, so I would not call it their job. They volunteer their time and IMO are doing an acceptable job with the amount of spam and useless threads on these forums recently.

See a post you don't like? Report it.

See a thread that is a duplicate/should be merged? Report it (with the thread to merge with).

If you help the mods do their "job" things will get better.

Yes, I know they don't get paid. But if they did indeed volunteer or get appointed would you feel like its your responsability to make the forums looks nice.

Since the introduction of the iPad and the Iphone the number of posts have increased dramatically. Moderating by searching the forums has now become a near impossible task. As robbieduncan says, if you see something that you don't think is right then report it, and if a mod agrees then it will change.

Case in Point
I didn't like this thread in the iPhone forum, so I reported it and it was subsequently moved into the correct forum. Simples!

the irony is that your "Mods clean these forums up" thread ... got moved from where it was originally posted.

Hell of a start I'd say.

Don't forget the high number of useless members posting this stuff. :p

If the mods want us to report useless threads, I'm happy to do so, but that will keep them busy because that is probably about 95% of new threads. MacRumors definitely takes the prize for highest frequency of the dumbest/useless threads.

Is that the policy, to report what you think are dumb/useless threads. I report Spam all the time, but not much else.

I report anything that Im unsure of. For example if its a duplicate thread then I will report it, and within the post report will paste a link to the older thread. Im sure a mod will step in and explain this better than I have (The policy on reporting).

On it's own I suspect not. The rules do not (I don't think) prohibit dumb or useless threads. If the thread is a duplicate of an existing (probably dumb or useless thread) then it can be merged. If the thread is clear and obvious trolling then I believe that can be deleted. If it's spam then keep reporting it.

I'm sure a moderator will be along to answer the question correctly soon, but as you note they are pretty busy right now!

this forums should have a "iPhone complaint" section or something like that.

This thread sucks now haha. Oh the irony of posting this in the iPhone forum just to have it moved to its proper place. How do I report a thread?

there are only so many hours in a day, and only so many mods and only so much they can do. thats life.

See the little warning triangle below each user name on the left. Click that to report a post. Clicking it on the first post in a thread can be used to report the thread as a whole.

I reported my own thread. yeaaaaaaaah!

To sum this up in one sentence: If you're not sure, report it anyway.
