Hi,

I'm on Mojave. My Beats Studio 3 Bluetooth headphones have become mono.

They are stereo when Bluetooth-paired with my iPad, iPhone, and iPod Classic, and work fine with the iMac when connected with the cable.

But when Bluetooth-paired with my iMac, they only play in the left ear.

My Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, and Bose speaker all work fine.

So this sounds like (ha-ha) it's an iMac or Mohave Bluetooth issue specific to my Beats. I've unpaired, forgotten, repaired, rebooted, but am yet to find a fix.

Hope you can help.

UPDATE: I borrowed another (very cheap) pair of Bluetooth headphones and they connect to my iMac with no issues.

In summary:

My Beats Studio 3 play stereo with all my iOS devices but only play mono on my iMac.
My iMac connects and plays in stereo with other (much cheaper) headphones.
So it can only be a Beats to MacOS issue, right?

I don't have any solution for you to try. But, I also use the Beats Studio 3 with Mojave on my iMac, and they have worked fine (stereo) since I moved to Mojave.

Open sound preferences, slide the thing from left to the middle.

Are you changing the balance of the beats? or some other audio output (the mac's speakers, maybe)
Nope. My iMac’s speakers work fine. Other Bluetooth headphones work fine. Only these Beats on this iMac. The Beats are fine connected to my iPhone. Switch to my iMac, and left only mono.

Mine too. This just happened. It’s always been fine. The right can just went dead when I connected to my iMac yesterday. I disconnected, connected to my iPhone, and everything is groovy. But I cannot connect my Beats to my iMac in stereo as of yesterday.

Now in Safe Mode. Intermittent stereo on You Tube. Popping in and out of right ear.

When I open System Prefs/Sounds - JUST OPEN IT, NOT ADJUSTING IT IN ANY WAY. JUST CLICKING ON THE SOUNDS ICON TO OPEN THE PANEL - I get stereo! Just opening it. Close it, and back to mono. Open it, stereo. Adjust left right, no change. Close it, mono.

Still in Safe Mode. Disconnected Beats. Reconnected. Played something on You Tube. STEREO!

Opened Sys Pref/Sounds. Nothing changed. Still stereo. OK. Gonna reboot into ordinary mode....

FIXED!!!!!

OK. Here's the fix if you have mono Beats Studio 3 on an iMac.

Disconnect Beats
Close everything
Boot in Safe Mode (restart, holding the shift key at the chime)
Connect Beats
Open System Preferences / Sounds (DO NOT ADJUST ANYTHING. JUST OPEN THE SOUNDS PANE)
Open Safari
Open You Tube
Search for "The Black Angels / Don't Play With Guns" and play it LOUD!
Stereo!

Close everything
Disconnect Beats
Reboot in Normal Mode
Connect Beats
Launch Safari / You Tube / "The Black Angels / Don't Play With Guns" and play it LOUD!
The BEATS goes on!
