I have a 2012 Mac Pro that I am still researching if it is economically worth upgrading to Mojave (sine a new modular Mac may be on the horizon?).

I currently have (2) ATI Radeon 5770 cards that power (3) NEC 27" 2k monitors via DVI connections. However, I am looking at upgrading one of my monitors to an NEC 4k soon - so something to consider.

So I am trying to find a replacement for those cards that does not break the bank and the ones I have researched from other threads that are under $300 are unavailable from the sources I have seen. If I have to buy more expensive cards just to upgrade to Mojave (so that I can install the latest Adobe CC software), it is probably better just to save up for the next Modular Mac.

If it were not for the Adobe apps not running under El Capitan, I would have no compelling reason to upgrade . Adobe keeps reminding me to upgrade to Mojave so that I can take advantage of the subscription model they have me locked into, but the cost to upgrade my hardware will cost me more than their software for the next year!

I just went thru this. I upgrade my 5870 to an RX580 to do the upgrade. Just did the upgrade on one of my spare internal disks until I see a few more things get finalized. You would lose the boot screen though as the RX580 does not have one.
