Last week I use my 2018 15' MacBook Pro on my coffee table during the daylight, then plug it back to my eGPU before going to bed. Second day when I woke up I found that the Mac rebooted itself, when I logged in every app relaunches, and an error message says 'Due to some unexpected error mac restarted.....'.

It happens almost everytime when I finished using it then put it back with lid closed.
I was on 10.14 public release. Then I wanted to know if it is solved with beta so I installed 10.14.1 beta 1 but it gets worse. Now it happens everytime.

I tried to define the problem. Found out there are 50 50 chances that mac won't recognize the eGPU if I plug it in with lid closed. I have to open the lid to 'activate' the internal display to make the egpu appears. I think perhaps some bug causes that mac restarts itself if it can't recognize the device with lid closed.

Anyone?

Have you tired installing the 10.14.1 final update? That might help.
