Mojave installation failure

Hello, I downloaded Mojave via the direct link posted on Macrumors.

The installation runs for some 5 minutes as a window, then I get a warning of a imminent reboot. The reboot results in an error screen with messages in some 8-10 languages, then after few seconds my computer rebooted before of an error. Then High Sierra boots up. Tried now 3 times, always the same.

This is on an 2016 Macbook 15 Pro, 16 GB RAM, 512GB SSD.

Any pointers on where to start the troubleshooting ? Console does not show any errors....
