I am using a late 2008 MacBook running Sierra (dosdude1's patch) and I woke up today to get a notification telling me to install Mojave. I hit Details since there was no cancel button, and it took me to the Mojave page on the App Store. It said "Open" instead of "Install" So I checked my Applications folder, and there was a complete Mojave installer sitting there. I never said yes to downloading it. I haven't done anything with the App Store besides install a security patch.

I am not even sure how it could have installed considering my machine is unsupported. This is the weirdest thing to happen to me with an Apple product. Reminds me of the whole Windows 10 thing. Has anyone else seen this or is there just something I'm missing here?

Do you have your software set up so that updates are downloaded/installed automatically?

I -always- turn this off on my Macs.
I don't want it to download ANYTHING unless I tell it to.

I've read reports from others who said they received the Mojave installer without specifically "asking" for it.
I'd just trash it.

After checking I had "Download newly available updates in the background" enabled. Even though just below it, it has an option "install macOS updates" which was off. I've deleted the installer.
